Description
45% chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, 55% pinot noir from the Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne; 20–25% 2014 and 2013 reserves; 16% pinot noir red wine; 8g/L dosage; cork; 20% of the production of the house, hence more than 500,000 bottles
Ruinart’s rosé is intentionally fresh, fruity, aromatic, approachable and full in colour. A light structure is the aspiration, but a strong inclusion of 18–19% red wine has traditionally infused a full-crimson hue, firm, fine tannin grip and a suggestion of bitterness to the finish. A little less red wine today makes for a medium crimson hue and subsequent relaxation in its structure. A large dose of chardonnay declares the house style of restraint and soft, chalk mineral mouthfeel, while pinot noir fulfils Panaïotis’ aspiration for this blend of aromatic freshness, lending aromas and flavours of all shades of red: strawberries, pink grapefruit, pomegranate, guava and a savoury edge of pink pepper and tomato. Subtle notes of dry extract lend a hint of coffee to the finish and a gentle, fine tannin structure. It upholds good persistence, balancing chalk mineral structure with finely textured tannins, vibrant acidity and well-integrated dosage. A fresh, approachable and pretty Ruinart Rosé, ready to drink now.
