Description
It’s from Springs Hill in Blewitt Springs, so that’s quite a lot of springing, I’d say, with about 25% whole bunch and very little new oak (10%). A trio of good releases in 2019. I like to imagine Charlie Seppelt in a tight pair of white Speedos (maybe the ones Tyrrell’s released some years back), doing elaborate dives off the springboard, and me holding up a card each time. 9.5, 9.5, 9.5. And after that, he’d come out in a Ralph Lauren polo, with the collar popped, to claim his trophy.
It’s spicy, nutty and meaty, deep black fruit, violet and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, dense and black fruited, shale-like tannin of rugged and sticky appeal, fresh blackberry acidity, and a rolling fresh and purple finish of excellent length. The build of tannin through the palate is so impressive. It’s a terrific wine. 95+ Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
