Description

This vineyard sits in Perno, a village in Monforte d’Alba. It has been owned by the Mascarello family since the late 1970s. The terroir is excellent, with west-southwest exposure, and the soil consists of marl, clay, and sand. The different vines in the vineyard include Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo.

Aromas of dog rose, camphor and spice mingle with woodland berry and violet on the stunning 2020 Giuseppe Mascarello Perno. On the savory, full-bodied palate, taut, refined tannins accompany crushed Morello cherry, raspberry, vanilla and licorice. 95 Points - Kerin O’Keefe
