Description
Deep ruby. Abel noted that this had only just finished its malo and thus the nose was firmly reduced. By contrast there is excellent verve to the dense, powerful and sappy broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent richness before terminating in a firmly austere, mineral-driven and impressively long finish. This is a concentrated wine in the context of the vintage and most impressive - if you can find it, buy it. Sweet spot Outstanding 91-94 Allen Meadows, Burghound
Cuvée Les Alouettes is one of four wines that Domaine Ponsot sources from its holdings in Monts Luisants, sourced from a parcel with more top soil in the middle of the slope. Showing subtle reduction and commendable freshness for a wine with 14% alcohol, it's chalky, bright and well-balanced, with a core of red cherry fruit and tany, supporting acidity. 94 points Decanter
