Description

This exquisite red wine-based Vermouth di Torino has been faithfully recreated using the original 1876 recipe of Clemente Chazalettes. The Vermouth is named after queen Margherita who in 1907, granted to Chazalettes the royal patent and use of the Royal House coat of arms. Unlike most rossos, which typically use a white wine base with added caramel for color, Chazalettes Vermouth Rosso is crafted with the Bava family’s own Barbera as its foundation, enhanced by a touch of Nebbiolo.

Alongside Piemonte wormwood, the resurrected 1876 recipe incorporates Piedmontese herbs such as marjoram and musk mallow, as well as exotic botanicals like sandalwood, mace, galangal, clary sage, cinchona bark, and coriander. Each botanical is meticulously prepared, with maceration periods ranging from a few days to several weeks.

The final vermouth is intensely flavorful and luxuriously textured—never overpowering—unfolding with notes of toasted tobacco, macerated orange, and cherry. It finishes with a balanced bitterness of licorice and rhubarb, culminating in a long, vinous close.
