Description

'Enfant de la Montagne'/ 'Child of the Mountain' is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Meunier from several premier cru sites in the Montagne de Reims. Made from 40% reserve wines.

"Born from the union of two grape growers ‘children, Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was created in 1980 by Chantal Delespierre and Didier Bertrand. Now at the helm are their children Adrien and Clémence. Independent, they manage all the steps from the culture of the vines to the selling of their bottles. The winery is located in Chamery, in the Montagne de Reims, between Reims and Epernay. Their vines are planted in four villages: Chamery, Ecueil, Villedommange and Montbré, which are all classified Premier Cru. The vineyards are farmed sustainably planting cover crops and overturning the soils. They aim is to treat only with organic products, but may spray if needed, depending on the vintage conditions. Everything begins with respect for the terroir and evolving with the vines. In the winery, all wild ferments and the use a traditional Champagne press. Part of their ferments are carried out in demi-muids (600 L barrels) and part in stainless and enamelled steel tanks. The different vessels allow them to find the balance between freshness and openness. No malo is carried out in the base wine but they can trigger naturally on the reserve wines. The aging is about 4 years minimum on lees in our cellars and much longer on their vintage wines." - Ludovic Deloche, Importer
