Bloody Hill Villages 'Healesville' Shiraz
A bit of rubbery funk to kick off, some green herbs and mezcal too. Sees around one third whole bunch in the ferment, so that might explain things. Sappy texture, fine, grainy tannins, sour cherry/tart strawberries, turned earth and mushroom-truffle notes in the wine. Funky. Tightly wound thing, this, not quite yielding to pleasure just yet, but out of these Bloody Hill Villages suite of wines, perhaps this one is for the cellar.
92+ Points, Mike Bennie. The Wine Front.
