Description
The Crécy block brings together a mix of modern Chardonnay clones and Yarra Yering’s traditional old vine selection, with seven distinct plantings across clone and rootstock. A single vineyard expression representing a more focused and mineral-driven take on Australian Chardonnay.
“50/50% original 1969 plantings/Crecy block; 20% new oak. There's a purity of fruit here that doesn't exist in the other two Yarra Yering chardonnays from '24. Focused, with white pear and peach aromas alongside subtle and complex marine scents. The palate is concentrated yet superbly balanced, with a very fine vein of acidity running through the wine. A superb wine now and one for the cellar. Not sure I've tasted a better chardonnay from Sarah Crowe and the team at Yarra Yering.” 98 Points - Phillip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
“Pop a few of this wine into your stash and you’d be doing well. It’s built to age well. It tastes of nectarine and brine, wax, honey-cream, subtle herbs and preserved lemon, but it’s the taut control of it, and the air of confidence, that really wins you over. This is excellent, but I wouldn’t touch it for a few more years." 95 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
