A sexy, seamless and haunting wine. From the first heady whiff of cassis, violet, dark cherry, black olive, graphite, cedar and sage through its astonishingly long clear black and blue berried chocolatey mineral depths, this luminous wine has a persistent intensity of flavour that never wavers through an incalculably long finish. Its perfect ripeness, scintillating tannins, and intoxicating tension makes for an unforgettably vibrant wine.

 

“The 2016 vintage was a dream”, says Cloudburst’s Will Berliner, “a generous year, but where everything seemed to be right, and a magnificence felt from the bounty”. Berliner always has a way with words.

Supple, fine feeling wine, soft in texture, lightly cinched with tannins, dark berry fruits, touches of black olive and briar. It drives well, a touch diffuse mid palate but the finish tightens up and there’s incredibly good texture through and through. Such a pleasing wine here. 93 Points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
