Description
Whereas all the Cote de Brouilly labels are the same and “old school” traditional, this wine has a screwcap and a modern label. The wine, however, is old-school, rich, clean, floral, fruity, spicy and generous high-quality Beaujolais Villages from Quincié, just to the north-east of Mont Brouilly on a gentle south-east slope. It’s the darkest I’ve seen, and Sonja says it has more to show and needs a little time in a perfect world. She is very happy with the great 2018 and 2020 but says that the 2022 is greater and has a higher whole bunch component than the 2021. It’s rich and ripe, has aromas of berries, spicy raisin toast and dark jam with a deep palate for a Beaujolais Villages and balanced tannins and a superb thirst-inducing drinkability.
