Description
Torre de Oña Finca San Martín is a single-varietal Tempranillo from high-altitude, limestone-rich vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, crafted by the Torre de Oña estate, which has been part of Grupo La Rioja Alta since 1995. The grapes are grown in vineyards surrounding the winery in Páganos, near Laguardia, and are hand-harvested in small crates to preserve quality. Under the guidance of winemaker Julio Sáenz, the estate has refined its style by balancing tradition and modernity—favouring American and French oak in larger formats.
''Rioja with subtle spices, berries, red plums and some oranges. Spicy and medium-bodied on the palate with medium acidity, round, soft tannins and a creamy, medium-long finish. Very approachable.'' 91 Points - JamesSuckling.com
''Exhibiting a garnet color, the aromas showcase vanilla, cedar, sour cherry and cassis, complemented by an herbal layer. Indulgent, rich and fairly structured, the fine tannins contribute to a corset-like mouthfeel." 91 Points - Vinous
