Description
From a .71 ha parcel in Les Petits Epenots; J.F. Coche-Dury purchased 6 barrels.
An attractively fresh nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark currant, earth and a whiff of oak. The medium weight flavors possess reasonably good underlying tension and complexity though the finish, while reasonably persistent, is slightly drying. Allen Meadows, Burghound
The colour is a rich mid purple and the bouquet displays the essential elegance of the Epenots vineyards. This is a high class Pommard, with a superb graceful texture and exceptional length. Despite this graceful class, there is a mineral thread which runs throughout. Superbly balanced, this is a wine of intellectual poise and sensuality. Jasper Morris MW
The Abbey of Cîteaux was a pioneer cultivating Burgundy’s vineyards. Records show a donation in 1260 of a Pommard vineyard named “En Espeneaul” (today written “Epenots”). In homage to Cîteaux’s historic role, this Cuvée is named after the last cellarer of the Abbey, Dom Goblet, who worked until the Revolution. The Pinot Noir vines are over 50 years old, producing a subtly perfumed, harmonious wine. Hospices Beaune
