Description
Artuke is a small winery in Rioja run by brothers Arturo and Kike, who farm organically around the village of Baños de Ebro at the foot of the Sierra Cantabria. Their focus is on producing vibrant, unadorned wines that express the character of their cool-climate, high-altitude vineyards without reliance on oak or heavy extraction. Their entry-level village wine blends 95% Tempranillo with a touch of Viura for aromatic lift, fermented as whole berries in line with the local ‘Joven’ tradition, resulting in a fresh, bright wine ideal for everyday drinking.
''The eponymous 2024 Artuke is perfumed, aromatic and florals and a velvety palate with almost unnoticeable tannins. It's a young and unoaked Tempranillo with some 5% white Viura. This is a bargain to buy by the truckload and drink unashamedly. It's a textbook example of the category and among my favourite reds from Rioja year after year. It's velvety and juicy, soft and tasty. Artuke show the character of the place where they are born: true terroir wines.'' 92 Points - Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate
