Yelland & Papps 'Second Take' Grenache
Ever charming wines from Y&P. This feels a little perkier, peaky than some grenache releases of the past, but that ain’t no thing for me. Sour cherry, brambles, rose water and balsamic vinegar whiffs, with an echo in the palate of the same. Some will say ‘balsamic?!’ and I say, ‘lifted fruit character and prickly, freshening acidity’, all good there, a zing in the wine. Lively, fresh fruit character, huge dusting of spice, a light blanket of gritty, grippy tannins and all up a sense of wild-expression and good drinking. I like it. Drink cold too. 92 points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
