The Wanderer ‘Upper Yarra’ Pinot Noir
2017 is usually better than 2018 in the Yarra but I’m not sure that it’s true of The Wanderer Pinot Noir. I haven’t had them side-by-side but this mightily impressed.
It’s such pure Upper Yarra. Light, insistent, powerful-beyond-its-weight. Red cherries and cranberries, a bitumen aspect, dried herbs and woodsmoke, a tickle of reduction. Of the earth. From a garden. But ripe enough, fresh enough, welcoming. A lovely wine for sure. 95 points - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
