After a hiatus, a return to grenache for winemaker Adam Foster. Instead of Foster’s old quarry of Rhone grenache, we see Heathcote grenache that finds 50% whole bunch in the ferment. Gentle treatment in winery, goes to old, large format oak too.
Ultra fragrant, floral and herbal whiffs, even pot pourri. Palate is berry sweet, not very sweet, but has a fruitiness and light candied note. More of the herb, spice, faint mintiness, cool breeze of stemsy-green-herbal freshness. Has a thickness but lift. Pleasing drink here. 92 points, Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
