Jean Marie Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes
From 12 plots from all round the village. Sound mid purple colour. The nose is very ripe though, complex aromatics with very ripe strawberries and then some saline notes. Complex, unusual and very long. Trying to work this out. I suspect it will be first rate. 90-94 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Revisited in bottle, Fourrier's 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes mingles aromas of cherries, berries and cassis with hints of soil and warm spices, framed by a deft application of glossy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and gourmand, with a ripe core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, it has turned out very nicely in the generous style of the vintage. 90 points, William Kelley, Robert Parkers’ The Wine Advocate
