Description
The 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is showing brilliantly, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, honeycomb, white flowers, orange oil and wheat toast. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, ample and muscular, with lively acids and an impressively structured, introverted profile for the vintage, concluding with a long, saline finish. Drink 2025-2050. 95+ points, William Kelley, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
On the border of Chassagne and Puligny. Pale lemon, with a wealth of white fruit on the nose, showing controlled flesh. A little touch of spice but not so much barrel toast. The wine itself dominates. What an incredible weight of fruit behind, yet really lively. This is brilliant and has retained a touch of mineral too. 96-99 points Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
"Don’t Miss!" (one contiguous parcel measuring about .24 ha is spread evenly between Chassagne and Puligny; Boillot calls it his Bâtard du Milieu!) Here too there is a whiff of matchstick character present on the white peach, pear and floral scents where there is a hint of spice. The big-bodied, dense and powerful but sleek flavors are a bit more tightly wound on the sappy, mouth coating and citrusy finish that exhibits a refreshing salinity. This is also terrific and as examples of typically Bâtard go, this is admirably refined with excellent aging potential. Drink 2030+. 94 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
