Description
The 2016 Pommard 1er Cru les Saucilles is blended with 30% whole-bunch fruit this year. This has a feisty bouquet with macerated small black cherries that are just given a lift by the VA. The aromatics seem to calm down with aeration and eventually find their groove, becoming more harmonious and with that volatility ebbing away. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin that feels more supple than the Volnay Caillerets. This is harmonious in the mouth with hints of oyster shell tincturing that black fruit toward the linear finish. Give this three or four years at least so that it fills out on the finish. Good potential here and certainly this is a Pommard with plenty of freshness. 90-92 Points, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
