Traditional winemaking from Damijan Podversic sees the malvasia grapes fermented on skins for between 60 and 90 days in big, older wooden casks. Nothing is added in winemaking, the small vineyard plots are all organic farmed. It’s bottled unfined and unfiltered. Intriguing array of wines with the weight, depth, character and complexity of many great red wines of the world.
Honey yellow colour. Highly aromatic, sweet honeyed notes in perfume over ripe apple, stone fruits, faint minerally things and a whiff of nutty-savouriness. Oily upfront then a glide to a building pucker. Feels sweet and ripe but delivers more a sense of concentration, then the hit of saline freshness follows.
