Voyager Estate MJW Chardonnay
Single vineyard, organically farmed. Fermented wild, 50% through malo, 10 months in oak.
Concentrated elegance. Complex length. Purity. Beauty. Truth. This is a Margaret River chardonnay of dazzling quality. Pear, figs, flint, grilled peach and mineral. Grapefruit. A cool, almost pine-lime trace of cedarwood. There’s a brush of matchstick to the nose but it doesn’t dominate; it’s better than that. The concentration of fruit here isn’t overwhelming but it sure is impressive. Texture, yes, just right. This is something, this wine. 96 Points - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
“Thrilling from start to finish – Australian Chardonnay does not come much better than this. The Voyager Estate MJW range is their shot at the title where nothing is left to chance for every element of the puzzle. From the vineyard to the winery, no expense has been spared in a quest to craft wines to take on the world. For previous releases it has been the MJW Cabernet Sauvignon that has led the charge. But hold the phone as in the 2018 vintage the MJW Chardonnay will give the twin Cabernet a run for its money.
It is a picture of elegance and restraint without the flashy new oak often seen on many of the world’s iconic chardonnays with the wine oozing harmony and balance. It is pale golden in colour and shows a flurry of citrus fruits – compact and concentrated grapefruit and nectarine are backed by almond meal with a touch of gun flint plus understated spicy oak. That is all followed by a dry, tangy and mouthfilling palate where pastry elements are beautifully intertwined with bright vibrant and youthful fruits. It’s seamless with an attractive acid bite that drives an incredibly long, silky and linear finish in a showcase of beauty and power. So good and it will go for years.” 97 points, Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot
“The perfect ripening conditions of 2018 have produced an outstanding expression of our pinnacle MJW Chardonnay. Displaying the purity, minerality & texture of Clone 95, underpinned by the concentrated & tightly woven citrus fruit core of the Gingin clone.” Steve James, Head of Viticulture & Winemaking
