Description
2018 is simply an incredible vintage in Alto Piemonte, there is an incredible balance and harmony to the wines. As for this wine, Andrea Fontana considers it his best Nebbiolo yet - that's lofty praise.
Sourced from the old Ronco al Maso cru in Ghemme. This is from a terraced vineyard with fluvial -glacial soil with sandy and pebbly texture. The minimum vine age here is 45 years. This is fruit declassified from the Ghemme - not with a view to quality consideration but rather fruit with a structure more aligned with earlier consumption. Importers Notes
Cherry, new leather and spice, some alpine herb perfume. Medium-bodied, raspberry and cherry, fine chalky dusty tannin, and a juicy perfumed finish of good length and cranberry crunch. Lots of energy and altitude here. Burgundy drinkers who wish to improve themselves should step forward to try. 93+ Points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
