Alessandro e Gian Natale Fantino Barolo 'Cascina Dardi'
From the Bussia MGA in Monforte. A ‘classic’ style we have here. It’s pretty and floral, but also kind of tense and savoury with plenty of dried herb, spice and tobacco, a suggestion of liquorice root, with fruit definitely in the ‘red’ zone. Medium to full-bodied, a touch smoky, with that spice and tobacco pushing through strongly, although the core of fruit is strong and fresh. Tannin is insistent and dusty, with a long cool finish laced with dried flowers. Pretty serious, and a wine that needs time in bottle to unfurl. It’s really very good. 95 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
