Description
Planted in 1879, and still open for business. Pretty much always my favourite red wine from Tyrrell’s because it’s so light, and so specific. 3,920 bottles produced. Maybe 2021 is a little like 2013 x 2009 in character? Both are vintages marked by freshness and understated charm. And both of those years have delivered most excellent wines with considered cellaring. Or something like that. I like to make comments that make me seem much smarter than I actually am.
Perfumed, red cherry, raspberry, fair bit of spice, iron filings and clay. Fine, light to medium-bodied, clarity and purity, such clean acid drive through the wine, finish is all violet and crisp red fruits, and it’s very long. Blink and you’ll miss it now, but wait! This is a superb fine-boned edition of 4A, and one to put in the cellar for at least a decade. It will flesh out and spread its wings. I love it. 96 Points - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
